I don’t know what possessed me into trying GOSH hair dye today. But I did thinking I’d change my look by adding some red into it to go with my new haircut. Was I ever stupid into thinking that this brand would do the magic of L’Oreal‘s Feria. Not only is my hair not dark burgundy red as specified on the box that it would be, it’s so super dry. Dry to the point that I had to apply a leave-in conditioner to even be able to brush it so it didn’t break any more of my hair. I am so upset. My hair is jet-black and I cannot even change it back unless I strip the color; which will end up doing way more harm. :’(
I’ve sent GOSH’s support department an email (see below). I really hope they get back to me soon and first reimburse me for this horrible product and give me some solutions on trying to fix my hair.

Subject: Horrified and Disappointed (Hair Dye – 336)
Date: Sat, 9 Jun 2012 20:46:40 -0400I am absolutely horrified and so upset by your product. I recently purchased a box of hair dye hoping to give myself a new look after having the same hair color for over 9 months. After following after the application process exactly as you listed on the insert, I washed my hair and rinsed with the conditioner provided. I noticed more than usual hair fall, extreme dryness and to top everything off, my hair isn’t even the color the box stated it would be, instead it’s nearly jet-black. It was supposed to be a dark burgundy shade. But no, it’s BLACK!!!!!!! I can’t even change the color if I wanted to.
What do I do now? My hair is so dry. I’ve had to apply a leave-in conditioner to it in order to even brush it and prevent more breakage.
Please get back to me as soon as possible with any way I can fix my hair.
Thank you,

My word of advice to you: It has a horrible smell. It super liquid-y. The conditioner doesn’t help and possibly dries the hair out even more. And if you do make the mistake of using it, make sure you get yourself one heck of a leave-in conditioner and treatment because this will ruin the texture of your hair. If you’re lucky, you’ll get the color you chose (unlike me).
Oh my I have made that mistake with a different dye a few years back… I donot know what part of the country you are from but get your hands on some:” Africa’s Best Ultimate Herbal oil” It saved my hair and is great on your skin.smells heavenly.. It might make your hair a little oily but it will keep it from breaking any worse. Good Luck hey from Alabama…
Thanks Mary. I’m in Canada but I’ll try searching for that oil!
I just used the exact same color/brand of dye you have here on Friday June 8th and I had the exact same thing happen! Jet-Black, super dry hair. I originally used it to cover up some horrible highlights that were done to my hair, but now it’s starting to slowly wash out and you can see the streaks showing through! Awful hair dye, I hope you get your money back because I’m going to try that too!
Aww sorry to hear you went through it too. But you know after googling it I realize there maybe many more of us with same issue. What a horrible brand!
No reply back from the company yet but I’ll give them another day since they’re in the UK. Then I might take to social media to get my response.
Although I liked the final color of my hair the box should have said 0% grey coverage and the smell was horrible…think my nose hairs are burnt! I’ll be e-mailing the company as well!
I used a the dark brown colour on my hair and had horrific results as well! My hair ended up almost black and the dye took in some areas and not in others and left my hair super dry as well. I had to re-dye with a dark colour and 6 months later that junk still is causing me problems. I don’t want to strip or bleach my hair but no dye will cover this stuff!
Sorry you had to go through this too. But when nothing else would work L’Oreal’s Feria worked for me. Try that and oil your hair every other night and wash in the morning. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you!
Was looking to colour my hair too and thought that I would give this product a try, boy what a mistake, like the others, very dry hair, the smell is horrific, will NEVER buy this again and have told all my friends who have this to bring it back and not use, terrible!!!!
Wow, I had absolutely no problem with the product, used one of the darkest brown shades. I used it at the end of last year, 2012, and got the colour I have been always trying to achieve with other brands. My hair was so super soft and shiny afterwords that everyone wanted to know what my secret was. Was actually going to buy another bottle today but seeing all these horrible reviews has me second guessing, even with the great experience I had the first time. I have just recently saved my scalp from severe dryness from being pregnant almost threee years ago and am very afraid now I may reverse all the hardwork I did
Sorry Donna, I didn’t mean to turn you off GOSH products. I just wanted to warn people to be cautious when using it.
