It was going absolutely perfect until a colleague I am particularly not close with nor like very much entered the room. Not only was I surprised to see her there but she left quite the impression on everyone else that was there.

Here’s how her entrance to the party began:
“What are you all celebrating?”
“What???? Tamana’s getting married???”
Then her focus turned directly to me:
“I wasn’t invited!”
I smiled thinking she was joking. But then….
“I wasn’t invited!!!!”
My response, “it was a surprise.”
“When’s your wedding?” she questioned.
“March 12th”
“How old are you?”
“29″
“Wow, you’re older than me. And then are you going to have babies?”
“Not anytime soon”
“At least I won’t be that old before I get married.”
“I can’t believe she’s getting married before me!”

And then she left. Everyone in the rooms jaws just dropped. I’m pretty sure the psychopath heard us making fun of her and laughing our heads off at her stupidness.

That was definitely entertaining. Sadly, we didn’t get that on camera otherwise I’d surely post it here.

I know it seems like I’ve abandoned my blog. But that isn’t really the case. I’ve been exhausted lately. Work has been very demanding, especially with me leaving in a week. But also because there are many new initiatives that are launching. In addition, I still have a lot of packing and shopping to do. I’ve just been getting to work too early and leaving extremely late everyday that by the time I get home I’m worn-out.

I’m really sorry for not writing daily. I’ve tried many times this week and have a bunch of partial drafts created on my iPhone, but I just can’t focus enough to get there. I think the exhaustion is also causing me to be lazy and not get the things done that need to be done.

Well, I just wanted to give you all a quick update on why I haven’t been posting. I know they seem like excuses. But just be patient with me. Because I really am exhausted and worn-out. But I’m also trying to finish those posts I promised for the time I’m away.

Anyway, I need to get back to work now. But I’ll have another update for you this evening (hopefully).

As for me, I’ve spent the last few days packing, organizing and then packing some more. This is the first time I’ll be away since I moved out of my parent’s house four and a half years ago. So, I have a heck of a lot of cleaning and tidying up to do before I leave.

It’s definitely going to be a hectic week and a half before my flight. I’m just worried that I’ll wear myself out before I get on the plane. I guess, I really don’t have much of a choice but to get everything done. Maybe I’ll make a list of things to do before I leave and try to prioritize accordingly.

Well, I better get back to work. It’s really busy here these days, plus there’s a lot expected of me prior to my trip. Sigh!

My wedding is less than a month away and I’m feeling quite anxious and excited. One month out of Toronto, 5-7 days on a hot beach, the wedding and all the dancing, singing and pampering. And best of all, I’ll go from Miss. to Mrs. ☺

I know the next couple of weeks are going to be hard without D but I’m not going to be miserable this time, well I hope not.

Anyway, it’s almost time for him to head to the boarding area, so I’m going to go grab him and give him some hug and kisses.

I’m a bit older than you…I spent 8 years in a crappy, often abusive marriage. I recently celebrated 9 years of a marriage with a man who is my best friend. Whether it’s my age or the length of time I’ve been married I don’t know, but I do appreciate Valentine’s Day and all the romantic stuff associated with it. My husband & I say ‘I love you’ every day, we have snuggle time, we make time for dates…I suppose for me it’s a day for a little extra specialness

I totally know what she means now. The extra day of specialness is much needed in all relationships. I mean, I don’t expect to be wined and dined at some fancy expensive restaurant that would leave a hole in my dearest D’s wallet. But yes, its true, having that extra day to feel extra special is definitely needed.

Sadly though, D isn’t the romantic type when it comes to thinking about that special day. He does buy me roses here and there and takes good care of me. But today I feel like something is missing. Like I want what my other girlfriends are experiencing today. As corny as it sounds, I too wanted to be surprised at work with roses and chocolates. I too wanted to get dressed up and go out to a romantic candlelight dinner and I too wanted to go for that romantic walk under the moonlight. I just wanted to feel special.

Instead, I’m sitting at home alone. I haven’t even talked to D all evening. I love him dearly and thought of surprising him with another romantic dinner and wine and all that stuff. But it seems like I’m always the one going out of my way to make him feel extra special. I’ve done the romantic dinners and roses and remember during the summer I even did the moonlight balcony picnic? But I don’t even so much as get a romantic text message these days and quite frankly I’m annoyed.

I know love should be around all year long and trust me, it is. He’s very loving but you know that feeling of being appreciated and feeling special, I haven’t gotten that in a while.

Valentine’s Day sucks!

It’s that time of year again, when hundreds of retailers and manufacturers exploit the public into purchasing overly prices romantic gifts. Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow and I am not stepping back on the statement I made a year ago! Say NO to Valentine’s Day!

Don’t get me wrong, I am once those super-duper, crazy, gushy romantics that people want to barf over. But I DO NOT believe in the commercialization of this holiday or any other for that matter. The significance of the holiday is generally lost in all the ads, flyers and promotions in trying to make a buck at the cost of helpless romantics. Don’t those manufacturers and retailers get it yet? Matter of fact, don’t we as the consumers get it???

I mean really, $69.99 for a dozen roses to be delivered to my beloved on February 14th, plus an extra $20 delivery charge? Where as any other day of any other month those same roses would cost me $30.99 and maybe $10 delivery. Seriously? What the heck are they thinking! And all those fools that so easily fall for it is pathetic.

Sure, I’d love to get roses at work. Sure, I’d love to send roses to D’s work. Sure, I’d love to go out for an awesome romantic dinner and get chocolates and be showered in other expensive gifts. But I would love all those things any day of the year. Why must we just leave all the romance to this one day? And why must we, women, put men through the agony of living up to what the media world and retail industry has summed up this day to?

Romance is a gift that we should be giving all year-long, not just on one special day. I know last year, on of my readers mentioned that after being married for so many years, she welcomed this one special day to be wined and dined beyond expectations. I understand that. I totally get it. But still, should Mr. Romance and Ms. Romance be doing all this throughout the year anyway? I mean, shouldn’t they be going out of their way every day and making sure that you feel beyond loved every single day of your life?

Don’t get me wrong, I will be celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow with my sweetheart and we will do something absolutely romantic. He’ll probably even get me a small gift (three roses), but he we do things like that all the time. He gets me roses every month or so. We have our absolutely romantic evenings and days every couple of weeks. Tomorrow will be no exception!

So, to all of you celebrating the lover’s day tomorrow, I hope you enjoy it and I hope you spend it with someone who loves you dearly and shows you how much they love you and how much you mean to them, not just tomorrow but every day of the year!

First, they Google an image, they go to the site and save the image and then they post it in their blog posts or on their site; without the slightest of concern that someone else has put in effort to make a unique image strictly for their own content.

Here’s an example of that. This person took this image either from my site or Google’d “No to Valentine’s Day” and found this image I made. Then they posted it on their site without even a hint of concern to reference the images source. Although, often I take images from Google or other websites, I try my best to ensure I reference the source of the image every time.

It just frustrates me that even though my website has a strict disclaimer (see below), people would still be so inconsiderate and take an image from my site and post it on theirs without a link back.

Great way to start off a Monday morning, huh? Sigh! People and their inconsiderate, unprofessional behavior sometimes gets the best of me. I am absolutely saddened and shocked by what the music industry announced today; the legendary pop singer, Whitney Houston has passed away. The cause of her death is still unknown, however her publicist, Kristin Foster confirmed the death of the 48 year old singer. Her death comes on the eve of the Grammy Awards – one of the biggest events for the music industry. One that the singer once reigned until her voice and image were ravaged by drug use, a riotous marriage to singer Bobby Brown and unpredictable behavior.

RIP Whitney. My heart goes out to her family and friends and all her fans. Today is another tragic day for the music industry, one that soon will not be forgotten.
