Ni’s 1 Week Birthday Letter

Happy 1 Week Birthday Ni

You’re already one week old! I can’t believe just a week ago I was anticipating your arrival. A week ago I was wondering how you’ll look and what it’ll feel like to have you finally here. And now a week later, I’ve come to realize that none of those things mattered because you are the most beautiful little angel that I have ever seen.

To be honest with you, when I first heard you cry in the operating room, my eyes welled up and I too began to cry hearing your voice. But then after the surgery mommy was too sedated to hold you right away. And even through all the intoxication from the medicines mommy was so scared and nervous to finally hold you. She didn’t know how she would hold you, how she would love you or how she would take care of you. You see, up until you were born, mommy wasn’t very fond of little children and never took the time to handle one or care for one, not even any of your cousins. So, when you arrived, mommy didn’t know how she was going to take care of you.

But then when mommy got home and was feeling a little better, she picked you up because you had been crying and grandma and daddy were both preoccupied. That first time mommy held you in her arms she fell madly in love with you. You smiled at her for a split second but it was enough for mommy to fall head over heels in love with you.

Now a week later, mommy looks at you and knows that you were one of the best presents she could’ve ever received. Mommy’s birthday is a week away and you’ll be 2 weeks old by then. So, mommy’s going to celebrate you next week instead of her birthday.

I love you my darling Ni! Happy 1 week birthday.
